Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, AZ --- The National Lacrosse League announced today that Arizona Sting forward Dan Dawson has been named Offensive Player of the Week for Week #8 of the season. This is the fifth time in his career that Dawson has been named Offensive Player of the Week by the NLL and the second time this year.

Dawson scored the game-winning overtime goal this past Sunday at Jobing.com Arena as the Sting won their fifth game of the season in dramatic fashion over the visiting Edmonton Rush. Arizona triumphed by a score of 12-11 in the match, claiming second place in the NLL's West Division in doing so. 'Dangerous' Dan finished the afternoon with 3G-4A-7P. Sunday's match was the fifth time this season that Dawson has registered at least seven points in a game.

Currently tied for second in the NLL with 24 goals this season, Dawson is off to the best start of his career. His 46 points are the seventh most in the league and he leads the 5-2 Sting with 15 power play points. In addition, the 6'5", 220 lb. forward has fired 72 shots on goal so far in 2007 - the seventh highest total in the league.

Dawson was named NLL Offensive Player of the Week two weeks ago after registering 6G-3A-9P in a 16-15 win over the New York Titans. The 25-year old native of Oakville, Ontario was recently named to the West Division's starting lineup for the 2007 NLL All-Star Game.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their home games are played at Jobing.com Arena and their season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
