Arizona Sting News Release
GLENDALE, AZ --- The National Lacrosse League announced today that Arizona Sting players Dan Dawson and Rob Blasdell have been named to the starting lineup for the West Division at the upcoming NLL All-Star Game, scheduled to take place at the Rose Garden in Portland on Saturday, March 10. The game's starters were determined by a combination of votes from media, fans, and general managers.
"Rob and Dan have both had sensational starts to the season and we're very proud that they've been selected to the start the All-Star Game this year," said Sting Head Coach/General Manager Bob Hamley, who will be serving as an assistant coach for the West Division at the '07 NLL All-Star Game.
Dawson, 25, is currently ranked second in the NLL in goals with 24. He is on pace to tally 55 goals this season, a mark that would surpass his team record of 48 (set in 2005) by seven. Dan is also ranked seventh in the league in points (46) and shots on goal (72). The 6'5", 220 lb. forward was named NLL Offensive Player of the Week for Week #6 of the season after matching his career high by tallying nine points (6G-3A) in a 16-15 win over the New York Titans.
Blasdell, 36, is in his second season with Arizona. He was named the NLL's Defensive and Overall Player of the Month in January after leading the Sting to a 3-1 record to open the season. He is currently ranked second in the league in goals-against-average with a mark of 10.10. The veteran net minder's 78.0% save percentage is the fifth best mark in the league, and his five wins rank him third. Blasdell has played every minute in net for the Sting this season.
