Kirk MacDonald Loaned To Providence

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that right wing Kirk MacDonald has been loaned to the Providence Bruins of the AHL. In separate transactions, the Royals (i) signed forward Scott Estey ("EHS tee"); (ii) signed forward John Geverd ("GEV erd"); (iii) placed forward Peder Skinner on the 3-Day Injured Reserve; and (iv) released Emergency Back-Up Goaltender Len DiCostanzo. In a separate transaction previously completed, goaltender James Reimer was re-assigned by the Maple Leafs from the Marlies to the Royals.

This marks the second call up of the season to the AHL for MacDonald, who has racked up a team-leading twenty-one goals (eighteen assists; thirty-nine points) in forty-four games with the Royals this year. For Estey (5'11/190) (21) and Geverd (5'11/217) (22), this will be each player's first stint in the ECHL. Estey has scored nineteen goals and assisted on twenty-five others (forty-four points) in twenty-seven games for the Hudson Valley Bears of the Eastern Professional Hockey League this year; while Geverd has scored fifteen goals and added thirty-two assists (forty-seven points) in twenty-eight games with Hudson Valley DiCostanzo served as the Royals' EBG in last night's 5-2 win over Wheeling. Reimer returns to the Royals after appearing in the second AHL game of his career on Friday night, a 4-3 loss to the Hamilton Bulldogs (start; loss, 1-1-0-0; 15/19).

The Royals faced the South Carolina Stingrays at the Sovereign Center this afternoon (Sunday, February 22 @ 5:05 pm).
