
Kinsolving's homers drop Otters

Darin Kinsolving's second homerun of the game sent the Otters down to defeat as the Freedom topped Evansville 5-4 in 12 innings.
The Otters got on the board first scoring single runs in the first and second innings. In the first a Jeff Goldbach double plated Frank Scott. In the second Mike Spry scored on an RBI ground out by Rickey Clinton to put Evansville up 2-0.
The Freedom scored three in the third. With two outs in the inning Joe Holland singled to score Clint Chauncey. On the next pitch, Ben Foster left a pitch up over the plate that Darin Kinsolving deposited the offering over the leftfield fence to put the Freedom up 3-2.
In the seventh, Scott led off the inning by reaching on an error on Kinsolving. Start Michael Dennison then threw wide of first on a pickoff attempt moving Scott to third. Denver Stuckey then hit a sacrifice fly to score Scott and tie the game at 3-3.
A wild ninth was to follow. After Scott drew a one out walk, Stuckey hit a 1-0 pitch from Curt Moenter into the left-centerfield gap to score Scott and give Evansville a 4-3 lead.
Leading off the bottom of the ninth, Kyle Geswein singled just under the glove on a diving Frank Scott. Scott Martin tried to sacrifice him to second but popped the bunt up. Foster slipped shifting directions to try to catch the pop up. Denver Stuckey picked the ball up as it hit the ground and threw to second. Brian McKenna had just moved away from the bag as Stuckey's throw sailed into center moving runners to second and third.
An intentional walk to pinch-hitter Mike Galloway loaded the bases. Ryan Burnau was brought in to face Clint Chauncey. On a 3-1 pitch, Chauncey was hit by a pitch to score the tying run. Josh Sanchez then struck out and Greg Stone flew out to shallow leftfield. Scott Martin tried to tag from third and score, but David Gingrich's throw was right on the money, nailing Martin by 10 feet at home plate.
With two outs and the bases empty in the 12th, Kinsolving hit Nathan Stone's first pitch over the rightfield fence giving Florence the 5-4 win.
The final game of the series is Wednesday. The Otters will send Andre Simpson (5-5) to the mound against former Major Leaguer, Corey Thurman (0-3) for the Freedom. Game time is 6:05 p.m. and can be heard on 91.5, WUEV
