Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
O'Fallon, MO - Rascals lefty Brian Keating struck 10 batters out as River City dropped the ThunderBolts 9-zip at T.R. Hughes ballpark Tuesday night.
River City plated a run in each of the 8 innings it came to bat with the exception of the 3rd, 5th and 8th frames. The Rascals began the scoring with a fielder's choice to center off the bat of left fielder Kirk McConnell. In the 2nd, Rascals 3rd baseman Wes Hutchison came home on Mike Conner's 2-run homer. Hutchison made his first start as a non-pitcher this year. He leads the team in relief appearances with 29. He finished with a pair of doubles and runs scored.
In the 4th, Kirk McConnell and Anthony Slagle conked RBI hits against ThunderBolt starter Scott Anderson. Slagle finished 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and a pair of runs. McConnell drove 3 home.
Anderson finished 6 innings and two-thirds for Windy City in his 12th start of the season. He surrendered 7 earned runs and struck 5 out. Anderson tossed 165 pitches, a season high for a Bolt starting hurler.
Keating's win was his 2nd against the Bolts this year. Windy City has now been complete-game shutout 6 times in 2005.
The ThunderBolts still can nab the series with a victory tomorrow. The contest begins at 7:05. Windy City sends Bobby Mack to the bump against righty Chris Webb. You can find every pitch on your web browser at www.sportsjuice.com.
