Kings Recall Defenseman Derek Forbort from Manchester

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have recalled defenseman Derek Forbort from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

The 6-4, 219-pound native of Duluth, Minn., has appeared in 46 game this season with Manchester (AHL), recording 11 points (2-911), a plus-15 rating and 37 penalty minutes. His two goals on the season are a career-best. At the time of his recall, he ranked tied for 10th in the league in plus-minus. Among team-leaders, he ranks second in plus-minus among active players (leads all team defensemen). He has yet to appear in an NHL game.

Selected in the first-round (15th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings, Forbort has appeared in 126 career AHL games, all with Manchester (AHL), collecting 29 points (3-2629), a plus-39 rating and 79 penalty minutes.

Forbort will wear number 84, becoming the first player in Kings history to wear that number.
