Dayton Dragons News Release

Clinton, Iowa-The Clinton Lumber Kings battled back from a 3-0 deficit keyed by a five-run seventh inning on the way to a 7-4 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Thursday. The Lumber Kings took two out of three games in the series. The loss dropped the Dragons to 29-31 in the first half.

Dominic D'Anna got the Dragons started with a two-out, solo home run to right field in the top of the first inning. It was D'Anna's fourth homer of the year.

In the second, the Dragons worked three consecutive walks with one out before Jefry Sierra lifted a long sacrifice fly to left field to make it 2-0. They added another run in the third when Devin Lohman lined a single to right, stole second, and scored on an error as Dayton led 3-0.

Clinton scored two runs on a one-out double by Kevin Rivers in the sixth to make it a 3-2 game. In the seventh, the Lumber Kings took advantage of a series of defensive miscues in the inning to score five runs and take a 7-3 lead. The key play in the inning was a dropped fly ball in right by Yorman Rodriguez that allowed two runs to score and set up another.

Dayton scored one run in the top of the ninth on Lohman's RBI single and had the tying run at the plate with one out, but Rodriguez flied to right and pinch hitter Donald Lutz struck out to end the game.

Dragons starting pitcher Daniel Corcino worked the first five and one-third innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs with no walks and eight strikeouts. He was not involved in the decision. Over Corcino's last two starts, he has struck out 18 without allowing a walk.

The Dragons collected seven hits. D'Anna was 2 for 3 with a home run. Lohman was 2 for 5 with a run scored, a stolen base, and an RBI.

Dayton (29-31) will travel to Geneva, Illinois to take on the Kane County Cougars (26-34) on Friday at 8:00 p.m. in the first game of a three-game series. Daniel Tuttle (4-3, 4.99) will start for Dayton. The Dragons next home game is Friday, June 17 vs. the Lansing Lugnuts. The Dragons consecutive game sell-out streak stands at 805, nine short of the all-time sports record.
