Silver Hawks Shutout Bees to Win 5-0

BURLINGTON, IA (June 9)- The South Bend Silver Hawks (31-29) beat the Burlington Bees 5-0 (41-20) at Community Field on Thursday night.

The Silver Hawks scored two runs in the second inning. A single by DH Raywilly Gomez (2-3) was followed by back-to-back errors by the Bees to score Gomez and give the Silver Hawks the lead at 1-0.

SS Raul Navarro (1-4) and 3B Zach Walters (1-3) provided two doubles in the third inning to spark a two-run scoring attack by the Silver Hawks. Bees C Juan Nunez (0-3) made his second error of the game to give South Bend a 3-0 lead.

C Ramon Castillo (1-4) blasted a two run home run to extend the Silver Hawks'lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning.

The Bees and West Michigan Whitecaps open up their three game weekend series on Friday at 6:30 p.m. It's "Big Fun Friday" at Community Field, where fans can enjoy 16 oz. cans of Bud Light and Busch Light for just $3.25 sponsored by Budweiser, Today's Hit Music Hot 97.3, and your hometown station, Big Country 103.1.
