Kingfish Welcome Ozzie Guillen to Simmons Field

Kenosha, Wis. - The Kenosha Kingfish are thrilled to welcome former MLB manager and player Ozzie Guillen to historic Simmons Field on Sunday, June 28th. Guillen will be available to take photos and sign autographs for fans starting when gates open at 5:05pm. Guillen will also be tossing out a ceremonial first pitch before the game, as well as assisting with a kid's clinic for members of the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha in the afternoon.

Guillen's resume from his time in baseball speaks for itself. An MLB manager for nine years, Guillen took over the Chicago White Sox in 2004. Just one season later he would lead the Sox to the 2005 World Series championship. Guillen would collect AL Manager of the Year honors that season as well. All told, the former shortstop would manage nine years in the majors for the White Sox and Marlins, compiling a .513 win percentage.

Making his playing debut for the White Sox in 1985, the Venezuela native would go on to win AL Rookie of the Year. Guillen, a three time AL All-Star and 1990 AL Gold Glove winner, played for four different teams over the course of his 16 year playing career; White Sox, Orioles, Braves, Devil Rays. His Braves squad would claim the 1999 NL Pennant before falling to the Yankees in the World Series. One of the top defensive shortstops of his generation, Guillen compiled a lifetime .264 batting average at the plate.

Guillen continues to live in Chicago and now works as a television analyst for ESPN. He recently finished a coaching and speaking tour of Australia with Kenosha native Rob Novotny.

The Kingfish game on Saturday, June 28th will also feature Gateway Technical College Turn Back the Clock Night. The Kingfish will wear Comets Jerseys that will be auctioned off that night. Post-game Fireworks will take place following the conclusion of the game.
