Bullfrogs Fall to Battle Creek in Game Two of Series

Battle Creek, Mich. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs and Battle Creek Bombers played game two of their two-game series on Tuesday night in Battle Creek. After the Bullfrogs recorded eight hits, but just one run, Green Bay fell to the Bombers by a score of 4-2. Garrett Harrison (St. Cloud State) took the loss for Green Bay, while Marcellus Sneed (Madison College) earned the win for Battle Creek and Joe Mockbee (Michigan State) picked up the save.

Battle Creek scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning, before Green Bay responded in the third inning to tie the game at one. Tony Brandner (No. Illinois) drew an RBI walk in the third inning that scored Ryan Howell (Chabot) from third who started the two-out rally with a walk.

The Bombers opened up the tied game in the fifth inning when they scored three runs on two hits. Laz Rivera (Univ. of Miami) had a two RBI single in the inning that gave the Bombers a 4-1 lead.

The Bullfrogs left the bases loaded at the end of the first, third, seventh, and ninth innings on Tuesday. Green Bay's second run of the game came in the ninth inning when Ivan Vieitez (Lenoir-Rhyne) reached base on an error, before Howell followed with a walk, and Ryan Koziol (Gulf Coast State) hit a single to load the bases. Brandner then hit into an RBI groundout that scored Vieitez to pull the Bullfrogs within two at 4-2. Mockbee then recorded the final out of the game on a strike out to preserve the Bombers lead.

Seven Bullfrogs recorded hits on Tuesday, led by Koziol who finished the night 2-for-3 with two walks. Howell was 1-for-3 on Tuesday and also drew three walks. The Bullfrogs recorded eight hits and eight walks on the night. Brandner recorded the only RBIs of the night for Green Bay.

Harrison pitched four and two-thirds inning for Green Bay, giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out six. Sneed threw five inning of three-hit baseball and allowed just one run to the Bullfrogs.

The Bullfrogs return to action on Wednesday at Joannes Stadium to face the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
