Mallards Square off against Chinooks in Final Game of Series

Mequon, WI - June 17, 2014. Following a 2-0 loss last night in the second game of a doubleheader against the Lakeshore Chinooks (14-6) at Kapco Park in Mequon, the Mallards look to bounce back against the Chinooks tonight at the "Duck Pond." First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.

Mallards starting pitcher AJ Bogucki (North Carolina) will make his first start of the season. Bogucki has appeared in three relief situations, and has a 1.92 ERA in 4.2 innings pitched, giving up one run on three hits. He has fanned nine batters this year, good for an average of 2.1 strikeouts per inning. Bogucki pitched two shutout innings on June 10th against the Chinooks in a 5-1 loss and struck out two batters in 0.2 innings of work last Friday in a 4-2 win over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

The Chinooks are scheduled to start 6'4", 215-pound right handed pitcher Mike Letkewicz (Augustana). Letkewicz holds a 3.29 ERA in 13.2 innings pitched and has started in three games, giving up 17 hits and five walks while striking out 13. He pitched five innings his last start in a 2-1 win against the Green Bay Bullfrogs on June 9th, giving up one run on six hits, walking none and striking out six.

After being swept by the Chinooks yesterday by scores of 5-4 and 2-0 in the doubleheader, the Mallards are now in fourth place in the Northwoods League South Division, two games back from the first place Chinooks.

Tonight at the "Duck Pond" is Superhero Night, and kids 12 and under in costume get a free standing room only ticket. It is also Rayovac Night and will feature a Rayovac Giveaway.
