Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Rockford, Ill. - The Kingfish were inches away from pulling off one of the best comebacks in the history of the Northwoods League, but fell in Rockford by a final of 15-14.

The game got off to a rocky beginning as Kingfish starter Derek Heffel allowed 7 runs in the first inning. Pete Schuler hit an RBI double in the first and Cal Jadacki belted a two run home run in the fourth. That said, through four innings of play, the Kingfish trailed 14-3.

The tear the Kingfish went on after that was one worth remembering. The Kingfish went on to score four runs in the 6th, one in the 7th, 4 in the 8th, and 2 in the 9th to tie the game 14-14 and force extra innings. It was all for not as Rockford's Ricardo Ramirez hit a walk-off single off of Kingfish reliever Ryan Orr in the 10th to give the Rivets the win.

The Kingfish offense exploded to life in Rockford, totaling 15 base hits and 10 walks. Marty Bechina went 3 for 6 with 2 doubles and an RBI, and Jack Yalowitz had a 3 for 5 night with 2 RBI. Cal Jadacki hit the third homerun of the year for Kenosha, and every Kingfish hitter collected a hit on the evening.

Ryan Orr took the loss after working 1.1 IP and allowing an unearned run to score. Cole Thurston pitched 2.0 scoreless innings and struck out a pair. The Kingfish are back in Rockford tomorrow before heading to Waterloo on Sunday.
