Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - The story of the night was Harrisen Egly, the right hander out of Columbia provided a much needed spark for the Bullfrogs as they took game two, splitting today ' s doubleheader. They won the second game 4-3 against the Battle Creek Bombers.
After dropping game one 12-5, the Bullfrogs fell down early to the Bombers once again 3-1 in game number two. In the top of the fifth, Egly took the ball as he entered the game in a bases loaded jam with only one out. The first batter, Eric Gilgenback (Notre Dame) flew out to shallow right field, Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne University) got the ball back in the infield quicikly to prevent Dan Swain (Siena) from scoring from third. Now with two outs, Egly got a big time strikeout of Truman Brown (Columbia State CC) to end the inning. The sophomore was fired up as he left the mound.
That fire and passion was transferred to the offense as the Bullfrogs would rally and score three runs to take a one run lead. The inning was started off by a walk by Marcus Shoemaker. After stealing second base, Zach Biermann continued his tear at the plate as he hit an RBI single to plate Shoemaker. A walk to Kanemaru and two wild pitches later, the game was tied at five runs apiece. With two outs, Colton Onstott (Dodge City Community College) hit a double over the head of the left fielder Daniel Jipping (Central Michigan) to score Kanemaru and take a one lead.
A one run lead was all that Egly would need as he shut the door on the Bombers. He finished throwing almost three innings, allowing no hits, and striking out two.
This win ended a five game losing streak for the Bullfrogs. As they head into their seven game road trip, this win will provide some momentum and confidence for the Bullfrogs.
The Bullfrogs will be in Kalamazoo, Michigan where they will play a two game series against the Growlers, starting at 1:05 ET (12:05 CT).
