BINGHAMTON, NY - Jared King stroked a go-ahead two-run single in the sixth inning and the Binghamton Mets defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. Luis Cessa fired five strong innings and the bullpen tossed four scoreless to guide Binghamton to their sixth straight win.

After Luis Cessa and Taylor Cole matched zeroes through four, the Fisher Cats scratched out the first run of the game in the fifth. With runners at the corners, Dwight Smith Jr. rolled a seeing-eye single up the middle plating Shane Opitz from second base. Cessa avoided further damage by picking off Smith and retiring Jake Fox.

Binghamton responded immediately in the bottom of the inning. With two on, King zipped a go-ahead single into center, bringing home Xorge Carrillo and Gavin Cecchini. His two-out hit kicked his team-leading RBI total to 13.

With Binghamton on top, Matt Koch tossed two perfect innings in his first appearance as a reliever. Dario Alvarez worked a 1-2-3 eighth before issuing a leadoff walk to KC Hobson in the ninth. The southpaw retired the next two batters before giving way to Paul Sewald. The righty fanned pinch-hitter Jack Murphy to secure his fourth save of the season.

Cessa (2-1) surrendered just one run on seven hits and struck out five over five innings to earn his second win of the season. Cole (0-3) allowed two runs on five hits over five innings in the loss.

The B-Mets (14-8) conclude their three-game series against the Fisher Cats on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 PM. RHP Michael Fulmer makes his first start of the season. POSTGAME NOTES: Excluding Matt Koch's appearance in the resumption of a suspended game on Tuesday, the B-Mets bullpen has not allowed an earned run in their last 20.0 innings pitched...the victory was Binghamton's sixth one-run win of the year...Binghamton's current winning streak is their longest since a six-game stretch in June 2014
