Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, announce the signing of defenseman Tyler Kindle. Per club policy, terms of the contract will be undisclosed.
Whether as a collegiate or now as a professional, the Portage, Michigan native Tyler Kindle (28) has felt at home on the blue line. A four-year pro, Kindle will have a homecoming Friday night, as he joins the K-Wings when they host the Muskegon Fury for a 7:30 p.m. face-off at Wings Stadium.
Kindle comes to Kalamazoo after dividing this season between the Fresno Falcons and Reading Royals (ECHL). Tyler's entire four-year career has been spent in the ECHL, where he averaged 31.5 points a season at the point.
"His integrity, team commitment and ability will make us better down the stretch," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "He (Kindle) gives us a quarterback for our power-play, which is something we have lacked this year."
Kindle split his rookie season in 2003-04 with the Cincinnati Cyclones, Trenton Titans and Pensacola IcePilots. In 2004-05, Kindle spent the entire season with the Pee Dee Pride, leading the team with a +9 rating, and finishing tied for 17th among ECHL defensemen in scoring .
Remaining in state for college, Kindle played collegiate hockey at Wayne State University, missing only one game in his four-year career and graduated as the school's all-time leader among defensemen in goals (29), assists (69) and points (98).
Fans will have two chances to see Kindle in a K-Wings jersey this weekend at Wings Stadium. Tonight (3/2) Kalamazoo will begin a four-game in six day set against the Muskegon Fury. Friday's 7:30 p.m. face-off will coincide with Panchero's Night. Saturday, the K-Wings and Fury meet again at 7:30 p.m. on Red Robin Night featuring the ZOOperstars! sponsored by The CW.
Tickets for this weekend's contests and all K-Wing home games are available at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office during their regular business hours of Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fans can purchase their tickets by calling the (269) 345-5101 or logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.
