Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- After a five-game road swing, the Rockford IceHogs returned home on Friday night and took a 3-2 win over the Port Huron Flags at the Rockford MetroCentre. The win extended Rockford's club-record unbeaten streak to 14 straight games (13-0-1), club-record home winning streak to 10-straight and its overall winning streak to eight.

Center Kevin Ulanski solved Port Huron goalie Dustin Traylen 17:17 into the contest when he slapped in his 23rd goal of the season off of a Luke Fritshaw rebound for a 1-0 lead. The lead diminished in the second period though, as Port Huron's Colt King rifled in the equalizer past Jake Moreland at 2:29.

Rockford went back on top and then added an insurance marker to take a 3-1 lead. Defenseman Corey Hessler beat Traylen short-side at 14:38 for his fourth goal of the season. Hessler picked up a pass from center Preston Mizzi who extended his franchise-best scoring streak to 13 games.

In the third period, while on a power play, the Hogs extended the lead to a pair. Winger Jesse Bennefield crossed a perfect pass to Nicolas Corbeil and he lit his 18th lamp of the campaign at 13:14. The Flags made things interesting, however, as recently acquired Scott Wray deflected in a Greg Bullock shot past Moreland at 17:54 to cut the lead to 3-2.

That's as close as Port Huron would get as Moreland and the Hogs would keep them off of the board the rest of the way. Moreland, playing in his second straight contest, made 14 saves while Traylen was saddled with the loss despite turning away 29 Rockford shots.
