Elmira Jackals News Release
Elmira, NY - Jeff Daw scored two goals and Dave Lemanowicz made 29 saves as the Elmira Jackals beat the Flint Generals 4-1 Friday night at First Arena.
Despite yet another busy day of player moves leading up to the 3:00 pm UHL Trading Deadline, the Jackals hit the ice against Flint without any new players in the lineup. But it was Flint's Shawn Snider who scored to give the Generals a 1-0 lead at 1:55 with an unassisted goal. Jeff Daw returned to the squad after missing Wednesday's game against Bloomington and he was an immediate impact. Daw tied the game as he followed up his own rebound at 18:33, assisted by Scott Drevitch, tying the game at 1-1.
What the second period may have lacked in scoring, with no goals, the two teams made up for it with physical play as Dan Veenema mixed it up with Flint's Justin Spencer and Frank Littlejohn dropped the gloves with Dave Frawley.
Daw continued his strong night as he scored his second goal of the game just 1:55 into the third period, putting Elmira on top 2-1, set up by a beautiful pass from Rob Chappell; Chappell and Noah Katz earned assists on the goal. Flint battled back but they could not solve the stellar goaltender of Dave Lemanowicz. With time winding down, Erik Anderson put the Jackals out of reach at 18:51, assisted by Dan Veenema and Frank Littlejohn. Littlejohn then added the icing on the cake as he scored an unassisted empty net goal at 19:23, his 30th goal of the season, sealing the Jackals 4-1 victory.
Dave Lemanowicz was fantastic in goal for the Jackals as he made 29 saves on 30 shots to earn his 11th win of the season, helping the Jackals improve to 25-33-1 on the year. Bryan Worosz took the loss for Flint, stopping 17-of-20 shots. Elmira finished the game 0-for-7 on the power play; while Flint was 0-for-6.
Elmira will now embark on a 9-day, 6-game road trip as both the Jackals and the Generals will travel to Flint for a Saturday night 7:30 pm match up at Perani's Arena. Elmira's next home game comes on Friday March 16th as they host the Muskegon Fury for a 7:35 pm face off at First Arena.
