Keys Defeat P-Nats for Second Consecutive Night at Pftizner Stadium

LF Kipp Schutz drove home four runs on Saturday as the Keys topped the Potomac Nationals, 6-2. Schutz hit a two-run homer in the second inning for the first runs of the game and followed in the third with a two-run single. In his fourth start as a Key, LHP Jake Pettit improved to 4-0. With the win, Frederick increased their lead in the second-half Northern Division standings to four games.

In a scoreless contest in the top of the second, LF Kipp Schutz stepped to the plate with C Brian Ward at second after Ward hit Ground rule double to right field. Facing RHP Adam Olbrychowski, Schutz hit a line drive over the right field wall for a two-run shot. Schutz's fifth home run as a Key put Frederick in front by two.

Schutz had another productive at bat the following at bat. With two outs and the bases loaded, Schutz lined a single to left field that scored 2B Jonathan Schoop from third and SS Manny Machado from third. Schutz leads all Orioles' farmhands with 68 RBIs on the year (32 in Frederick).

Olbrychowski exited the game after just three innings. He surrendered four runs on five hits while walking four and striking out one.

Potomac scored an unearned run in the fourth inning and threatened to tie the game in the sixth. With a run home and two men in scoring position, LHP Chris Petrini relieved Pettit. Petrini struck out C Andre Nieto, LF JR Higley, and 3B Sean Nicol in succession to end the inning.

On the night, Pettit allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits over 5+ innings. Chris Petrini finished up his outing after two innings. In two scoreless innings on the hill, Petrini struck out a season-high five batters.

The Keys added two insurance runs in the seventh inning as they picked up their third straight win and 14th victory in their last 16 games.

Frederick and Potomac will close out the three-game series on Sunday afternoon at Pfitzner Stadium. LHP Nathan Moreau (10-7, 3.92) will take the hill for the Keys in the finale while the P-Nats will turn to LHP Danny Rosenbaum (5-5, 2.61). First pitch in Woodbridge, VA is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
