THE HILLCATS: Friday, the ‘Cats beat the Salem Red Sox 8-7..The game was poorly executed at times with the Red Sox committing two errors and the Hillcats four, but it wasn't short on excitement...The Hillcats scored five in the bottom of the fifth, the rally was started by a solo home run for Marcus Lemon and ended with a two-run blast for Joey Terdoslavich...Salem countered with a six-run sixth...Down 7-5, Lynchburg scored two more in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game...Terdoslavich then broke the tie doubling down the right field line with two outs in the eighth, driving home Phil Gosselin from first base...RHP Andrew Wilson pitched the ninth, he walked two batters but eventually stranded both at second and third holding on for ...The Hillcats are currently tied for third place in the Northern Division at 12-22 with the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 11.0 games back of the Frederick Keys in first place...

VS. SALEM: The Hillcats are 6-12 against the Red Sox this season...Salem has clinched the season series as this will be the final series between two clubs, a three-game set in Lynchburg...The Hillcats are 3-5 against the Red Sox this season at City Stadium...Last season, the Red Sox took the season series 11-8 over Lynchburg...Myrtle Beach (2010 Braves Advanced-A affiliate) fared worse against Salem, winning just five of the 20 match-ups...

ROAD WEARY: Lynchburg returns to City Stadium for the first time since July 16 this weekend, wrapping up an 11-game in 12 days road trip Thursday night...The Hillcats won four of 11, splitting four games in Potomac, winning one of three in Salem, and one of four in Myrtle Beach...The offense continued to struggle throughout the trip, hitting just .211 (71-337) as a team...They were shut out four times, and averaged just 2.73 runs per game (30 runs/11 games)...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Atlanta Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes C Christian Bethancourt (12), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

RUNNING WILED: OF Keenan Wiley stole third base twice last night...It was his first multi-steal game of the season with the Hillcats, and second of his young career...He has proven to be the most effective base stealer for Lynchburg this year with 14 steals in 17 attempts...He's also swinging a good bat recently, hitting .375 over the last five games (6-for-16)...Currently hitting .285, which would rank tied for fourth in the league but he is still seven plate appearances short of qualifying after being called up from Rome April 25 this year...If he can average 3.83 plate appearances over the next six games he'll qualify...

HOME RUN DROUGHT: INF Joey Terdoslavich homered for just the third time since the beginning of June last night...This after hitting 11 long balls in May and April...His pace has drastically gone down month to month...In April he hit seven home runs in 19 games but his average was only .243...Then, in May his hit four home runs in 27 games, but saw a dramatic boost in average hitting .304 (he also won CL player of the month)...Although the tape measure shots have gone down, he continues to rack up extra base hits with 11 or more doubles in May, June, and July...He hit his 38th double of the season last night as well and leads that category by 11 in the Carolina League...

CLOSING TIME: RHP Andrew Wilson was called upon for the save last night for the first time since June 6, the only time he'd blown a save all season...That was against the Salem Red Sox...Wilson surrendered a game tying home run and eventually earned the win in that ball game...He drew the Red Sox again last night and things got dicey after he walked his first two batters with only a one run lead...He eventually stranded the two runners at second and third to hang on for his fifth save in six opportunities this year... HILLCATS HISTORY: RHP Zeke Spruill threw his fifth complete game of the season in game one Wednesday night...He now holds the record for most complete games in a season since Lynchburg adopted the Hillcats moniker in 1995...Spruill only needed to throw six innings for the complete game Wednesday night as the Hillcats lost 5-0 in a seven-inning game...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER:LHP Drake Britton was selected in the 23rd round of the 2007 draft by the Red Sox out of Tomball (TX) High School...Coming into the 2011 season, was ranked as Boston's second best pitching prospect and the third best overall prospect by Baseball America...Had a 9.28 K/9IP ratio in 2010 while pitching for Greenville...Went 2-3 with a 2.97 ERA...Has pitched twice this season against Lynchburg...Gave up three runs, two earned, on three hits in five innings in no-decision on April 20...Pitched four and two-thirds innings on May 30, giving up three runs on four hits, and walked five...Currently 1-10 with a 7.17 ERA in 18 starts this season...
