Kester leads Lynx past Braves, 4-2

The Ottawa Lynx scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back, holding on for a 4-2 win in Ottawa Monday night against Richmond.

The win improves the Lynx record to 47-48 on the season.

Player Of The Game: Lynx starter Tim Kester limited the Braves to just two earned runs over 6.2 innings for his fourth win of the season.

Game Recap: Richmond scored once in the top of the first inning to jump out to an early lead. But the Lynx roared back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to turn the tables on the Braves. Ed Rogers amd Eddy Garabito led off the Lynx half of the first with back-to-back singles, before Fernando Tatis cashed Rogers with a sacrifice fly and Keith Reed scored Garabito with an RBI single. Ottawa scored the eventual winning run in the fifth inning when Tony Alvarez led off the inning reaching second base on a throwing error, moved to second on Ed Rogers' single and scoring on a double play. The Lynx scored another in the sixth inning when Andy Tracy led off with a single and later came around to score on a Val Majewski groundout. Cesar Crespo completed the scoring in the seventh with a solo blast off starter Tim Kester. Kester threw this fifth quality start of the season, going 6.2 innings, allowing only two earned runs. Winston Abreu and Julio Manon combined for the last 2.1 innings, allowing no more runs. Manon scored his 31st save of the season.

Next Game: The Lynx take on the Braves at home again, with first pitch of tomorrow's game scheduled for 7:05 pm in Ottawa.
