
Braves drop series opener at Ottawa

Ottawa, ON - Tim Kester tossed 6 2/3 solid innings as Ottawa beat visiting Richmond, 4-2, on Monday. Kester (4-2) allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk before Winston Abreu followed with 1 1/3 perfect frames. Julio Manon worked a scoreless ninth for his 22nd save as the Lynx (48-49) won for the third time in four games.
Keith Reed went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Fernando Tatis and Val Majewski also drove in one run apiece for Ottawa. Cesar Crespo homered and Michael Ryan had an RBI single for Richmond (35-59), which lost its third in a row.
Brian O'Connor (4-9) took the loss after giving up four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits over seven innings. He fanned three without walking a batter.
The Braves and Lynx meet again Tuesday at 7 PM. Richmond returns home Friday vs. Indianapolis at 7 PM. Story courtesy of Max Lance/MLB.com
