
Kernels make three roster moves on Monday

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce three roster moves today; INF Jesus Campos has been promoted to Arkansas of the Texas League; INF Wes Hatton rejoins the Kernels from Orem of the Pioneer League; and RHP Heath Nichols has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with a right shoulder impingement. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Monday.
Campos was a member of the Kernels 2011 Opening Day Roster, and played in 55 games for the Kernels, batting .215 with four doubles and nine RBI.
Nichols is also a member of the Kernels 2011 Opening Day Roster and made 20 starts for the Kernels, posting a 6-7 record and 3.88 ERA. In 113.2 IP, he allowed 110 hits and 62 runs (49 earned) with 45 walks and 77 strikeouts.
Hatton began the season in Cedar Rapids and was assigned to Orem on July 14 where he hit .379 with a triple and 7 RBI in nine games. In 73 games with the Kernels, he hit .201 with 4 HR and 36 RBI and is tied for third in the MWL with seven triples. Hatton was the Angels fourth round pick in the 2009 First Year Player Draft.
Hatton is active and available for today's 12:05 pm game with the Beloit Snappers. With today's transactions, the Kernels active roster is at 24 players, one short of the MWL maximum, with two players currently on the disabled list.
The Kernels wrap up a three game set with Beloit today at 12:05 pm, and open a four game series with the Quad Cities River Bandits on Tuesday at 6:35 pm.
