
Kernels home streak snapped at four with 4-2 loss to LumberKings

The Cedar Rapids Kernels had their four game home winning streak snapped by the Clinton LumberKings, 4-2, on Wednesday night at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Clinton starter Steven Hensley (3-0) held the Kernels to an unearned run on eight hits over seven innings for the win and Ruben Flores pitched an inning of relief for his second save.
Kernels starter Manuel Flores (1-1) delivered a quality start, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings and striking out three. The Kernels outhit Clinton 12-7 as Tyson Auer was 3 for 4 with a double and HR, his second of the season. Alexi Amarista and Anel De Los Santos added doubles as they both were 2 for 4.
Neither team issued a walk in the game, which was played in speedy 2 hours, 29 minutes. Clinton took full advantage of their hits, as they were 3 for 7 with runners in scoring position while the Kernels went 0 for 6.
The third game of this four game series is Thursday night at 6:35 pm. It's a 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday when fans can get 12 oz. draft beer for just $1.50.
