Today's Game:
The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Loons (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) in the second game of a four game series. 2009 Season Series (all in Dayton): Great Lakes 3, Dayton 1.
Last Game:
Great Lakes battled back from a 6-1 deficit after seven innings to beat the Dragons 7-6. The Loons scored two runs in the eighth and four in the ninth, getting a two-out, two-run single from Kyle Russell to bring in the tying and go-ahead runs. Dayton scored four runs in the third and two more in the fourth to build the early lead behind a sparkling pitching performance from Matt Fairel. The left-hander struck out 12 over six innings, allowing just one run, but received no decision. Dayton had 10 hits including three by Frank Pfister. Dave Sappelt had two hits and extended his hitting streak to eight straight games. Tony Brown also had two hits and Humberto Sosa had a two-run double. The loss was the Dragons' ninth straight to tie a club record.
Today's Starting Pitcher:
Josh Ravin makes his third start of the season tonight. He beat Great Lakes on April 10th with six scoreless innings. In his last start Thursday at Fort Wayne, Ravin took the loss (4 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO). Ravin was the Reds fifth round draft pick in the 2006 draft out of national power Chatsworth High School. Ravin made 14 starts for the Dragons in 2008, going 2-8, 7.15. In three previous seasons of professional baseball, Ravin went 3-15, 7.03. He allowed only 143 hits in 145 innings but walked 123. Ravin is 21 years old and a native of Tarzana, California.
Individual Notes
- David Sappelt has hit in eight straight games and 10 of the 11 games on the year. He is tied for the league lead in hits with 15.
- Sappelt is tied for the league lead in stolen bases with six. He has not been thrown out this season on the bases.
- Kevin Coddington has hit in four straight games, going 7 for 14, .500.
- Byron Wiley is 5 for 10 over his last three games.
- Tony Brown is 4 for 7 with a home run over his last two games.
- Sappelt and Humberto Sosa are the only Dragons to start all 11 games.
- Five of Kyle Day's eight hits have gone for extra bases (three doubles, two triples).
- Humberto Sosa is 3 for 6 (.500) with five RBI with runners in scoring position.
Team Notes
- The Dragons hope to end a nine game losing streak tonight. The Dragons have tied the club record for consecutive losses, set in 2004. The Dragons only victory this season was a 6-1 win over Great Lakes the second day of the season, Friday, April 10th.
- The Dragons have led by at least two runs in six of the nine losses.
- The Dragons have scored the first run of the game in six of their 11 contests this season.
- The Dragons bullpen is 0-4 with a 9.39 ERA over the last seven games and has been charged with three blown saves.

Partch, Bowman, and Menchaca were all on the Dragons 2008 Opening Night roster. Partch, Menchaca, Gonzalez, and Thurman were all members of the Dragons 2008 playoff roster.
- The Dragons roster includes 20 players who played last season with the Billings Mustangs, the Reds Rookie-level affiliate. The Billings team posted a record of 42-32 and won both the first half and second half North Division titles in the Pioneer League.
