Grand Chute, WI - The Peoria Chiefs allowed a pair of one-run leads to get away in a 3-2 loss Wednesday afternoon against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The loss drops the Chiefs to 1-3 on their current road trip and 5-5 on the season.

Peoria took the lead in the top of the ninth against Rattlers reliever Trey Watten. Pinch-hitter Kyler Burke led off with a double off the right-field wall and moved to third on an infield single by Josh Vitters. The Chiefs went on top 2-1 when Burke scored on a double-play grounder off the bat of Ryan Flaherty.

In the bottom of the ninth, Chiefs reliever Erik Hamren walked the first two batters before retiring Erik Miller on a sacrifice bunt. With Juan Sanchez at third and Sean McCraw at second, Kevin Kreier relieved Hamren. On the first pitch Kreier threw, Michael Marseco delivered a game-winning triple to the wall in right as both Sanchez and McCraw scored to end the game.

The Chiefs scratched across the first run of the game in the top of the sixth against Rattlers Cody Scarpetta. Tony Campana reached on a bunt single to start the inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Josh Harrison. With Campana on the move from second, Rebel Ridling put the Chiefs on top 1-0 with a single to left. The RBI is Ridling's 10th of the season in as many games.

Wisconsin bounced right back and tied the game against Chiefs reliever Jeffrey Beliveau in the bottom of the sixth. Cutter Dykstra led off with a single and moved to second when John Delaney walked. Both runners moved up on a groundout and Dykstra scored on a sac fly to right field by Brock Kjeldgaard.

The Chiefs had a chance to take the lead in the seventh after Flaherty and Cliff Andersen led off with singles against Watten. Luis Flores sacrificed to advance both runners, but Junior Lake missed a squeeze bunt sign and Flaherty was tagged out trying to return to third. Lake then struck out with Andersen at third to end the inning.

Carpenter struck out six for the third time this season while tying a season and career high with five innings pitched. He took a no-decision after retiring the first 12 batters before allowing a single and walking two in the fifth inning. Beliveau allowed a run and a hit while walking two and striking out one in his lone inning of work. Chris Huseby allowed just two base runners and struck out a season-high four over two innings. Hamren (0-2) walked the first two batters he faced before getting a sac bunt and leaving for Kreier. Kreier gave up a hit to the only batter he faced for a blown save.

Casey's General Store Player of the Game: Chris Carpenter (SP) & Chris Huseby (RP) - Carpenter matched career and season highs with five innings and six strikeouts.
