CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - Pinch runner Darwin Perez scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning on a dropped throw by Loons' catcher Matt Wallach to give the Cedar Rapids Kernels a 3-2 walk-off win over Great Lakes Wednesday night.

With the bases loaded and one out, Dwayne Bailey hit a sharp ground ball to first baseman Tony Delmonico. His throw was accurate but dropped by Wallach to plate the winning run.

It was the second unearned run scored in the game by Cedar Rapids. In the sixth, Beau Brooks took an extra base after a double following a throwing error by Alfredo Silverio. He later scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the score at 2-2.

Reliever Robert Boothe took the loss (0-1). Mike Kohn (3-0) pitched a scoreless ninth for the win.

Justin Miller started and allowed just one earned run in six innings. He battled Manuel Flores, who started and pitched eight innings, but neither starter factored in the decision.

Cedar Rapids struck for the game's first run of the game in the second, with Adam Younger singling off the glove of Miller.

But the Loons took the lead in the sixth on a two-run single by Travis Vetters.

The Loons continue their three-game series Thursday afternoon against the Cedar Rapids Kernels from Veterans Memorial Stadium. Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (1-4, 8.14 ERA) will be opposed by righty Manaurys Crrea (1-3, 6.44). The game will be carried locally on ESPN 100.9-FM. Game time is 1:05pm ET.
