Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars returned home Wednesday night to face the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for the start of a six-game home stand but fell 7-5 in front of 4,229 at Elfstrom Stadium. The Cougars have now lost a season-high three games, contests that have been decided by a total five runs.    The Cougars led only briefly when they claimed a 4-3 advantage in the bottom of the fourth. Steve Kleen scored on an error, Jeremy Barfield smoked an RBI double and Petey Paramore knocked out a run-scoring single to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead. But the Timber Rattlers answered off Anthony Capra in the fifth with a three-run rally, and they never relinquished that lead. Capra (0-3), gave up six runs on eight hits, walked two and fanned six over 4 1/3 innings, suffering his third straight loss.    Wisconsin added a run in the seventh against Mickey Storey, and the Cougars tried to battle back in the ninth. Steve Kleen singled home Dusty Napoleon, who had walked for the fourth time, but a strikeout with the winning run at the plate ended the rally. Liam Ohlmann (2-2) notched the relief win for the Rattlers, and Jim Henderson saved his 11th.    The Cougars (23-16) and Wisconsin (18-21) continue the three-game set Thursday night at 6 CDT. Shawn Haviland (3-1, 2.48) will face Michael Bowman (1-1, 1.82).
