
Kepler Keeps Snappers on Losing Skid

The Beloit Snappers dropped yet another game to extend their losing streak to a bleak six games as they fell to the Cedar Rapids Kernels by a score of 7-4 in Midwest League action at Pohlman Field in front of the Friday night crowd of 1798.
This loss brings Beloit down to a record of 65-52 (22-25 in second half) and brings Cedar Rapids up to 70-45 (30-17 in second half).
The Kernels struck first in their first at bats of the game, as Travis Harrison hit a two run double off Dylan Covey to plate Niko Goodrum and Max Kepler. Daniel Robertson finally got the Snappers on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the third, and an RBI walk from Matt Olson added one more to the inning's total, bumping Tim Shibuya out of the game after two and two thirds innings.
Chris Lamb (1-3) relieved Covey in the top of the sixth inning, and gave up an single to Michael Quesada to inch the Kernels in front of Beloit by a score of 3-2. Adam Brett Walker blasted his twenty-fifth home run of the year in the seventh inning off reliever Chris Hall to tally Goodrum and create a 5-2 deficit for the Snappers.
Max Kepler (2-4, 3 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI's) hit a two run home run, his sixth, in the eighth inning off Trevor Bayless to bury the Snappers in a 7-2 hole. Beloit scored in the eighth on a wild throw by Quesada to bring Renato Nunez home from second, and Ryan Delgado (2-3, RBI) doubled to push across Sam Roberts and bring the score to 7-4. Madison Boer pitched a perfect ninth, picking up his fourth save of the year and finishing off the Kernels' clean sweep of Beloit.
Saturday, the Snappers travel to Burlington to take on the Bees at 7:00pm. Scheduled to pitch for Beloit is RHP Dakota Bacus (9-4, 3.82 ERA), and LHP Ryan Crowley (9-6, 3.59 ERA) will be taking the bump for the Bees. Beloit returns to Pohlman field on Saturday, August 17th. Next Saturday, Bryden Motors will be sponsoring a post-game fireworks show.
