LONG BEACH, Calif. – Chris Kenady recorded his first hat trick of the season as the Ice Dogs defeated the Anchorage Aces, 5-2, in a West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) game Friday night at Long Beach Arena. The win was the third consecutive victory for Long Beach (3-2), and was the sixth straight loss for the Aces (1-8). The two teams finish the three-game series Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.

Kenady opened up the scoring 2:49 into the second period with a power-play goal that beat Anchorage goaltender Christian Soucy (1-7) glove-side. Tomas Kapusta increased the Ice Dogs lead to 2-0 when he swatted in a rebound for his second goal of the year. Yvan Corbin's goal 12:15 into the second period shortened Long Beach's lead and also gave Corbin his league-leading seventh goal on the year.

Kenady scored again 5:04 into the third period after a wonderful backhand pass by Tomas Hradecky. Long Beach goaltender Mike Buzack (3-0-0) recorded his first assist of the year on the play. Hradecky set-up Kenady again at the 11:36 mark of the third when Kenady made a falling wrist-shot slip past Soucy. Carl Drakensjo scored his third goal of the season 17:45 on an Anchorage power-play to make the score 4-2, but Hradecky's empty-net goal at the 19:47 mark into the third sealed the game shut.
