Charleston, WV - On Thursday, Minor League Baseball announced the Player-of-the-Month Award winners for each of the 16 leagues for April. West Virginia Power right-hander Mitch Keller was honored as the best player in the South Atlantic League. Keller was 2-1 in April with a 0.86 earned run average.

Keller, a second round draft choice by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2014, was honored by the South Atlantic League as the Pitcher-of-the-Week for his efforts from April 7 though 17.

During the month, Keller made four starts and struck out ten batters in two of those four games. He allowed just 12 hits, walked one and struck out 28 while holding opponents to a .167 batting average and one extra-base hit over 21.0 innings. The right-hander also began his 2016 campaign with 15 consecutive scoreless innings.

Keller joins Yeudy Garcia and Tyler Glasnow among Power players who have been tabbed for such honors during the Pittsburgh Pirates affiliation era.
