
Kannapolis Tops Legends 6-1

The Kannapolis Intimidators picked up their first win of the season Wednesday as they defeated the visiting Lexington Legends 6-1. Left-hander Joe Serafin (1-1) got the win. He worked five and one-third innings, allowing five hits and one run. The Legends scored their only run in the top of the first inning. With two outs, Jiovanni Mier walked, went to third on a single by J.D. Martinez, and scored on a single by Jake Goebbert.
Kannapolis came back with four runs in the second inning, two scoring on a triple by Juan Silverio. The Intimidators added two more runs in the third inning, and Serafin and relievers Ryan Buch and Drew O'Neil shut out the Legends the rest of the way. Starter Juan Minaya (0-1) was the losing pitcher for Lexington.
Kannapolis is now 1-6 on the season, Lexington 4-3.
The two teams wrap up a four-game series in Kannapolis Thursday night. First pitch is set for 7:05. The Legends open their home season Friday night at 7:05 at Applebee's Park against the Greenville Drive.
