Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

For the first time in the 2010 season, the Kannapolis Intimidators are victorious. The Intimidators trailed 1-0 after the first inning but scored four runs in the second and two runs in the third to beat the Lexington Legends 6-1. The win snaps the Intimidators (1-6) six-game losing streak to start the season.

Starter Joe Serafin allowed a run in the first, but settled down to go 5.1 innings and pick up his first win of the season. Serafin (1-1) allowed five hits and four walks while striking out two. The bullpen then took over and continued on the pace of 7.2 scoreless that they set last night with another 3.2 scoreless between Ryan Buch and Drew O'Neil.

In the four-run second, Nick Ciolli, who has a hit in five straight, started things off with a walk and a stolen base before Kyle Colligan brought him home with a single. Then with two on and one out, shortstop Juan Silverio tripled both Colligan and Brady Shoemaker home to give the Intimidators a 3-1 lead. A Jordan Cheatham groundout made it 4-1 at innings end.

Legends (4-3) starter Juan Minaya (0-1) struggled to find his control and lasted just 2.2 innings allowing four hits, all six runs, four earned and one walk. He tossed four wild pitches on the game which began and 10:05 am on Wednesday. In the third, Daniel Wagner reached on an error before being doubled home by Ciolli. Ciolli then was sent to third on a wild pitch before a Colligan sacrifice fly brought him home.

The Intimidators collected seven hits to the Legends five and have out-hit their opponents for the first time this season.

The Intimidators look to make it two in a row in the last game of an eight-game homestand at 7:05 as righty Terry Doyle (0-1) takes to the hill, he will opposed by Robert Donovan (0-0).
