Homestand Notes

Three-game set against division opponent begins tomorrow: The Cougars open a three-game home series against the Clinton LumberKings tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. Saturday's game includes a pre-game AUTOGRAPH SESSION with Cougars players. DAVE THE HORN GUY returns to perform his unique entertainment routine between innings. An Elvis-themed FIREWORKS SHOW is on tap following the game and afterwards, fans can RUN THE BASES. Both Sunday's 1 p.m. game and Monday's 6:30 p.m. game offer fans a chance to RUN THE BASES and Sunday's game also includes a pre-game AUTOGRAPH SESSION. Team Notes

Second Half Begins: The Cougars wrap up a brief stint in Peoria before returning home tomorrow. Both the Cougars and Chiefs played this past Wednesday in the third-ever minor league game held at Wrigley Field, Despite the 5-2 loss, Cougars infielder Mike Gilmartin went 3-for-4, just a home run away from the cycle. Naperville native Ian Krol was touched for four runs and took the loss. Within the past week, a pair of players joined the Cougars' roster from Short-A Vancouver. Catcher Chris Affinito and outfielder Jose Crisotomo were added, with Affinito returning to the Cougars after starting the season in Geneva. Outfielder Kent Walton was promoted to Class-A Advanced Stockton.

Four All-Stars With Cougars Ties: Congratulations to Andre Ethier, Trevor Cahill, Miguel Cabrera and Adrian Gonzalez, all of whom were recently named to the MLB All-Star Game, which will be held on July 13. Cahill and Ethier are first-time big league All-Stars, and this marks the 14th straight season that at least one former Cougar has represented Kane County, dating back to 1997. Cabrera, who leads the American League in batting average, RBI and is 3rd in home runs, has also been confirmed as a participant in Monday evening's Home Run Derby.

Extra Bases: Outfielder Tyreace House has reached base safely for 36 consecutive games - the longest streak in the league this season...former Cougar Mike Spina ('09) leads the A's organization in RBIs with 67 and is second in home runs with 15 as a member of the Class-A Advanced Stockton Ports. Another Ports player and '09 Cougar, Shawn Haviland, leads the A's organization in strikeouts with 98... Oakland pitcher and '08 Cougar Tyson Ross was recently sent to Triple-A Sacramento and will likely return to a starter's role, after breaking in the big leagues this spring as a reliever with the A's...'05 Cougar Travis Buck was recently transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
