Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
BELOIT, WI - Danny Rams did it to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The catcher for the Beloit Snappers hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the ninth inning at Pohlman Field on Friday night to beat the Rattlers 4-3. The loss was the third time during the just concluded nine-game road trip that the Rattlers suffered a âwalk-off' defeat. Wisconsin, despite a few late heroics of their own, ended the trip with a 2-7 record.
Beloit (44-40, 7-8) jumped on the board with two runs in the first inning. Yorby Martinez drew a leadoff walk and scored on an RBI triple by James Beresford. One out later, Yosmil Pinto sent a grounder to second. The Rattlers infield was pulled halfway in, but the throw home did not get Beresford.
Wisconsin (32-51, 6-9) got one of those runs back in the top of the third inning. Michael Marseco tripled with one out. A grounder to second off the bat of Erik Miller got Marseco home to make the score 2-1.
But, Beloit answered in the bottom of the fourth. Anderson Hidalgo doubled with one out and took third on an error on the play. Reggie Williams singled through the drawn in infield to drive in Hidalgo for a 3-1 Beloit lead.
Beloit starting pitcher Miguel Munoz gave up two hits and retired 19 of the first 21 batters he face. Then, two swings got the Rattlers back to even in the top of the seventh. Khris Davis singled with one out. Morris hammered the next pitch over the wall in right-center for a two-run homer and a 3-3 game.
Rams wasted no time in the bottom of the ninth inning. He drove the first pitch from Rattlers reliever Jon Pokorny past the scoreboard in left-center for the game winning homer.
Friday was the second time this season the Snappers have hit a game winning homer to beat the Rattlers at Pohlman Field. Wang Wei Lin hit a âwalk-off' homer to beat the Rattlers in the bottom of the tenth inning on May 3. Opponents have eight âwalk-off' wins over Wisconsin in 2010.
The Rattlers return to Time Warner Cable Field on Saturday night to start a three-game series with the Burlington Bees. Damon Krestalude (3-3, 5.55) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Burlington counters with Dusty Odenbach (4-5, 4.44) as their scheduled starter.
It's Taco Bell Night and there is a postgame fireworks display sponsored by FOX 11. Some tickets remain Saturday's game and may be purchased in person at the Time Warner Cable Field Box Office, over the phone at (800) WI-TIMBER, or on the web at www.timberrattlers.com.
Game time on Saturday is 6:35pm. If you can't make it to the game, you can tune in to the radio broadcast on AM1280, WNAM, starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 6:15pm.
