Week in Review:

Wednesday, January 11th, 2011 vs. Tri-City Americans - 3-2 Win

The much anticipated game lived up to expectations with the Blazers coming out with a 3-2 victory over the #1 ranked team in the CHL. Colin Smith opened the scoring in the first period to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead. The game remained 1-0 until the third period. Smith tipped home his second goal of the game for a 2-0 lead. The Americans got one back, but Tyler Hansen blasted home his first goal of the season for a 3-1 lead. The Americans scored a late power play goal, but the Blazers earned a 3-2 win snapping the Americans 13-game winning streak. Cole Cheveldave earned the win with 30 stops in goal. Friday, January 13th, 2011 vs. Seattle Thunderbirds - 7-1 Win

The Blazers got off to a quick start and cruised to a 7-1 victory. JC Lipon and Chase Schaber scored goals in the first 32 seconds of the game for a quick 2-0 Blazers lead. The goals were followed up by Colin Smith, Brendan Ranford and Bronson Maschmeyer each tallying to give the Blazers a commanding 5-0 lead through the first period. The Thunderbirds scored the lone goal of the second period, while Lipon and Dylan Willick scored in the third period in the 7-1 victory. Cole Cheveldave again earned the win making 23 saves. Saturday, January 14th, 2011 vs. Everett Silvertips - 5-2 Win

The Blazers made it six straight victories to start the month with a 5-2 win over the Silvertips. Brandon Herrod opened the scoring in the first period, while Tim Bozon also scored to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead. Chase Schaber scored a shorthanded marker, but Ryan Murray of the "˜Tips blasted home a shot as the Blazers led 3-1 through two periods. Bozon and Brock Balson scored goals in the third period to solidify a 5-2 win. Cole Cheveldave was in goal again and earned the victory with 24 saves. Full Recap and Highlights.

Monster Mondays

To kick start your week, the Kamloops Blazers will be offering game tickets for a low price of only $10. Every Monday, tickets can be purchased at the Kamloops Blazers Box office for only $10 for any scheduled home games that week. This promotion applies to non-premium seating and will be in effect for the remainder of the season. Tickets must be purchased in person at the Blazers Box Office. Smith Named WHL Player of the Week

Blazers' forward Colin Smith has been named the WHL Player of the Week. The 18-year-old had 3 goals, 4 assists and 7 points while the Blazers went 3-0-0-0 this past week. Smith was also a +6 in the three victories. For more, follow this link.

Blazers Ranked 7th in BMO MasterCard CHL Top 10

The Kamloops Blazers continue to be in the CHL Top 10 rankings. This is the seventh time the Blazers have been ranked in the CHL Top 10 this season. The Blazers are the second ranked WHL team behind the Tri-City Americans, who are ranked 1st in the CHL. To view the CHL Top 10 Rankings, follow this link.

Kids Month

January is Kids' Month! Receive a free youth ticket with the purchase of a regular priced adult or senior walk-up ticket to any Blazers home game in the month of January (Does not apply to Premium seating). New this year will be an opportunity to write a letter to your favourite Blazers player and let them know why you're their biggest fan! Drop your letter off at the Blazers Corner Store and the Blazers will post them online for everyone to read. Select fans will also receive responses to their letters so make sure to include your return mailing address with your letter!

Bozon Ranked 39th in NHL Central Scouting

Blazers' rookie forward Tim Bozon was ranked 39th among North American skaters in the NHL's Central Scouting rankings. The 17-year-old forward has 22 goals, 22 assists for 44 points in 44 games this season. Bozon leads the WHL rookie scoring race. For the rankings, follow this link.

Blazers Lead the B.C. Division by 11 Points, 2nd Overall in the WHL

The Kamloops Blazers won all three games this past weekend and continue to lead the B.C. Division with 65 points and a 31-10-1-2 record . The Blazers currently hold an 11-point lead in the Division over the Vancouver Giants. The hockey club has continued where they left off after the Christmas break with a 7-1-0-1 record and go into this week with a six game winning streak and one point behind the WHL's top team, the Tri-City Americans.

The Blazers have already surpassed their win total from last season (29), winning their 31st game of the season on Saturday night. The Blazers are 10-1-0-0 in their past eleven home games. One of the most glaring stats is the Blazers dominance against its Western Conference opponents with a 25-3-1-1 record.

Prospects on All-Star Team, Named Player of the Month

The Kamloops Blazers had prospect Jordan Thomson participate in the 2012 Manitoba Midget AAA All-Star game. Team East defeated Thomson's Team West squad 6-3 in the game. The 15-year-old defenseman has had a solid season with the Southwest Cougars putting up 5 goals, 16 assists for 21 points in 26 games this season.

Goaltender prospect Braden Krogfoss has been named the BCMML Player of the Month during December. The 7th round draft pick had a 3-0-0-0 record, a 0.33 goals against average and posted two shutouts during the month.

Final Home Game of the Month

The Kamloops Blazers play their final home game of the month this Wednesday, January 18th when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Blazers will be back on home ice on February 1st when they host the Spokane Chiefs.

The Blazers will head south this weekend to play games in Seattle on Friday and in Tri-City on Saturday night. Next week, the Blazers will play a game in Kelowna on Wednesday before heading to Victoria for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday.

Recchi to Coach in Top Prospects Game

Kamloops Blazers Alumni/co-owner Mark Recchi will be on the bench for the CHL Top Prospects game in Kelowna on February 1st. Recchi, who is enjoying retirement after a 22-year NHL career that included 3 Stanley Cups, will coach Team Cherry. For rosters and full information, follow this link.
