ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week's action with a 25-13-2-3 record (14-6-1-1 at home, 11-7- 1-2 on the road, 2-2-3 in overtime) and tied for third place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and tied for sixth overall in the WHL... This week the ICE will travel to the EAST DIVISION for three games (January 18 - 21).
PASTA AND CHICKEN BUFFET: The KOOTENAY ICE FAN CLUB is hosting a PASTA AND CHICKEN BUFFET on Sunday, February 19 at the HERITAGE INN...The dinner will be attended by the KOOTENAY ICE PLAYERS and will start with cocktails at 4:30 pm...Tickets are $30.00 and are available during home games at the FAN CLUB TABLE or from any FAN CLUB MEMBER.
SAVE ON FOODS / FOOD BANK: When the ICE host the BRANDON WHEAT KINGS on January 24 it will be SAVE ON FOODS NIGHT...Fans in attendance are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank.
SUPER SEVEN FLEX PAKS: The sale of SUPER SEVEN FLEX PAKS continues...You get seven game certificates to use at your convenience - total flexibility...SUPER SEVEN FLEX PAKS are available in Adult, Senior, Student and Youth packages. Adults are $119.00, Seniors $91.00, Students $77.00 and Youth $63.00.
DID YOU KNOW: The ICE are 17-12-2-2 against the EASTERN CONFERENCE this season (11-5-1-0 at home, 6-7-1-2 on the road, 2-2-2 in overtime)...KOOTENAY is 9-2-0-1 when they score the first goal on the road and 2-5-1-1 when their opponent scores first...The ICE are 8-1-0-1 when leading after the second period on the road, 0-5-0-1 when losing and 3-1-1-0 when tied...KOOTENAY is second in the WHL on the power play on the road at 25.0%...The ICE are third in the LEAGUE in penalty killing on the road at 83.1%...NATHAN LIEUWEN is second in the LEAGUE in save percentage (.927) and goals against average (2.12)...SAM REINHART, who is sixth in the LEAGUE for points by a rookie (13-21-34), tied a franchise record for the most points by a 16-year-old Forward (JARRET STOLL - 13-21-34 - 1998/99 and NIGEL DAWES - 15-19-34 - 2001/02)...SAM REINHART needs to record six more points to tie a franchise record for the most points by a 16-year-old (STEVE MCCARTHY - 11-29-40)...MAX REINHART, who is tied for seventh in the LEAGUE for scoring the first goal of the game with five, leads the ICE in scoring on the road (12-13-25)...JOHN NEIBRANDT and JOEY LEACH both lead KOOTENAY in plus / minus with a plus 20...JAGGER DIRK leads the ICE in plus / minus on the road with a plus 12.
SCORING STREAK: JESSE ISMOND (0-3-3) has recorded at least one point in his last three games.
INJURIES: Defenseman LUKE PAULSEN will be out of the KOOTENAY line up indefinitely with an upper body injury...Forward DREW CZERWONKA will be out of the ICE line up week to week with an upper body injury.
ONE YEAR AGO: After 43 games of the 2010-2011 season the ICE were 28-12-1-2, after 44 games 29-12- 1-2 and after 45 games 29-13-1-2.
