This past week

Wednesday, January 11th Regina Pats 2 Prince Albert Raiders 0

A mid-week road trip saw the Pats head into the Art Hauser Centre and shut the door defensively in a 2-0 win over the Prince Albert Raiders. Jordan Weal and Jack Rodewald scored for the Pats while Dyson Stevenson, Matt Marantz and Lyndon Martell all picked up assists. Matt Hewitt with the 26 save performance for his third shutout of the season.

Friday, January 13th Regina Pats 7 Victoria Royals 3

The Royals paid their first ever visit to the Brandt Centre and they were looking good after the first two periods of play as they were in a 3-all tie with the Pats. From there, it was all blue and white as Andrew Rieder scored three times in the third period for his first ever WHL hat trick, helping the Pats to a 7-3 win. Jordan Weal notched another 5 point night with two goals and three helpers, while Adam Beukeboom won his second game of the season.

Sunday, January 15th Saskatoon Blades 7 Regina Pats 4

It was all Saskatoon early and often, as the Blades scored 4 times in the first period and once early in the second to stake themselves to a 5-0 lead. The Pats picked up goals from Colton Jobke, Lyndon Martell and Martin Marincin to cut the lead to 5-3 heading into the third. In the final 20 minutes, the Blades scored two more times and were able to roll to the 7-4 victory.

Looking Ahead

Wednesday, January 18th - Ice @ Pats 7:00pm Brandt Centre

This is just the second time this season that the Pats and the Ice will meet and the first time since September 30th in Cranbrook when the Ice won 5-2. The star of the night was Calgary Flames 3rd round pick, Max Reinhart. He had a two goals and two assists for a four point night and is currently leading the Ice in scoring.

Wednesday night is also another edition of "Weiner Wednesday" where it will be 2 for 1 hot dogs all night long!

Friday, January 20th - Tigers @ Pats 7:00pm Brandt Centre

This will be third of four games between the Pats and Tigers with the blue and white taking the first two games on September 28th 5-3 in Medicine Hat and on November 6th, 4-3 in overtime at the Brandt Centre. The Tigers are a high octane scoring machine led by two time World Junior for the Americans, Emerson Etem and 17 year old sniper Hunter Shinkaruk.

Friday is "Salute to Hockey Moms" if minor hockey teams purchase as a team ticket package, their mom's will get in free! Dad's, don't worry, there are discounted prices for you if tickets are purchased with the team package. Call 522-5604 for more information.

Saturday, January 21st - Warriors @ Pats 7:00pm Brandt Centre

The best rivalry in the Western Hockey League heats up again as the Warriors and Pats meet again for the 5th time this season, and just the second time at the Brandt Centre. Three of the four games have been one goal affairs with the Pats winning the last meeting in Moose Jaw on December 9th 3-2 in overtime.

Prairie Mobile Super Skills Competition

Sunday, January 22nd - Co-operators Centre 2:00pm

The second annual "Prairie Mobile Regina Pats Super Skills Competition" is set for this Sunday at 2:00pm at the Co-operators Centre. If last season is any indication, this year's event is going to be a must see event All members of the Regina Pats, selected media members as well as a team from Hockey Regina will take part in the five event competition. Admission is free and everyone should see the skills on display!

In The Locker Room

- On a trade deadline day deal, the Pats acquired 19 year old defenceman, Martin Marincin, as well as a 4th and a 7th round pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft as well as a 4th in 2013 from the Prince George Cougars in exchange for Ricard Blidstrand, a 1st and 2nd round picks in 2012 and a 5th in 2013. In his first three games with the Pats, Marincin has two goals and two assists.

- Jordan Weal had three goals and four assists this week for the Regina Pats and his 76 points is good for second in the WHL

- Matt Marantz is on a six game point streak which is the longest in his WHL career

- Andrew Rieder picked up his first WHL hat trick this pat Friday night against the Victoria Royals.

Through the Looking Glass

Adam Brooks:

The Pats first pick (2nd round, 25th overall) in the 2011 WHL bantam Draft is currently competing for Canada at the Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria.

Currently Canada is 1-1 after a 5-1 victory over the United States yesterday in a game that saw Brooks score one and pick up an assist. For the tournament, Brooks is tied for second in team scoring with 2 goals and an assist.

This season with the Winnipeg Thrashers of the Manitoba Midget-AAA Hockey League, Adam has 30 points in 30 games as a 15 year old rookie. Which is fourth on the team in scoring.
