Week in Review:
Friday, September 17th, 2010 vs. Prince George Cougars
Jake Trask led the way with 2 goals and Dalibor Bortnak had 3 assists as the Blazers took down the Cougars 7-3 at home. Jon Groenheyde had another solid night in goal stopping 19 of 22 shots. Matthew Needham, the Blazers' 1st round pick in 2010, made his debut with the hockey club in the victory. The Blazers improved their exhibition season record to 3-2-0-0.
Saturday, September 18th, 2010 at Prince George Cougars
The Blazers closed out their exhibition schedule with a 6-2 win in Prince George on Saturday night. Goal scorers for the Blazers were Prince George native Lyndon Martell with 2 goals, Jake Trask (2), Brady Gaudet, and Dylan Willick. Jon Groenheyde improved his record to 4-1 in the exhibition schedule, while the Blazers were 4-2-0-0 in the preseason.
Five Blazers Still in Pro Camps
To start this week, the Blazers still have five players at NHL training camps: Josh Caron (MIN), Chase Schaber (EDM), Corey Fienhage (BUF), Austin Madaisky (CBJ), and Brendan Ranford (PHI). All the players are expected to be return this week and on time for the home opener on Friday, September 24th.
Season Ticket Pick-up
Season ticket pick-up day was held yesterday at the Interior Savings Centre. Tickets will continue to be available to pick up at the Interior Savings Centre Box Office located on the West end of the building.
Third Jersey Debut
The hockey club will be introducing a brand new third jersey on Saturday, September 25th vs. Chilliwack Bruins. The team will be wearing the jerseys on every Saturday home game in the first half of the hockey season.
Two Proven Goaltenders
The Blazers solidified their goaltending over the week as they acquired 20-year-old goaltender Jeff Bosch from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for a 6th round pick in 2011. Bosch will back-up 19-year-old Jon Groenheyde this weekend, after Groenheyde had a terrific exhibition season. The hockey club also reassigned 16-year-old goaltender Troy Trombley to the Midget ranks in Edmonton, AB.
