Spokane Chiefs News Release
The good news for Chiefs fans...defenseman Brenden Kichton has been returned to Spokane by the Detroit Red Wings after the 18-year-old attended their prospect's camp. The bad...while playing at the Traverse City Prospect's Tournament Kichton broke a finger and is expected to miss four-six weeks.
Kichton is the second Chief veteran to return from a pro camp after Levko Koper came back from the Atlanta Thrashers prospects camp over the weekend. Koper, a seventh round selection in 2009 by Atlanta, returns to the Chiefs for his fifth season. Last year he scored a career high 24 goals in 58 games.
Spokane still has three players at NHL camps; defenseman Jared Cowen with the Ottawa Senators, center Tyler Johnson with the Minnesota Wild and right wing Blake Gal with the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Chiefs also reassigned 16-year-old center Connor Chartier to play AAA Midget in Alberta.
The movement leaves the Chiefs with 25 players in Spokane; three goaltenders, eight defensemen and 14 forwards.
