AMERICANS JUMP INTO SOCIAL MEDIA
KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans' Sr. Vice President of Business Operations Brian Sandy announced today that the club has launched an official team presence in the two largest social media outlets, Twitter and Facebook.
With a fan base that is growing rapidly, the jump into social media provides the Americans a chance to interact on a one-to-one basis with their followers. The unveiling of the official Facebook (Tri-City Americans) and Twitter pages (@TCAmericans) coincides with the Canadian Hockey League's revamped CHL Network of sites, which puts an emphasis on easily accessible team information and social networking.
"This was a long overdue process, but we wanted to make sure that, as an organization, we could fully utilize the capabilities of both of these strong marketing platforms," explained Sandy. "Our fans have been asking for this and we are proud to finally deliver it to them."
"Followers of the Americans can expect to receive game and news updates, as well as information on upcoming promotions and community events," said Dan Mulhausen, Americans' Director of Marketing and Media Relations. "We don't want this to serve as just an extension of our website. Ultimately, we want the fans decide in what type of information they receive."
In addition, the Americans have partnered with local provider Qpontext.com to create the Americans Text Club. Members will receive special offers and information from the team direct to their mobile phones/devices. To join, fans simply text 'AMS' to 50240.
The Americans kick-off their 23rd season of hockey in the Mid-Columbia with a doubleheader this weekend. The rival Spokane Chiefs visit the Toyota Center on Saturday, September 25. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Then, on Sunday, September 26, the Americans face-off against the Seattle Thunderbirds at 5:05 p.m. Tickets are available through all Ticketmaster outlets, including all Fred Meyer outlets, the Toyota Center box office, or online at ticketmaster.com.
