Kalamazoo Wings News Release

The K-Wings finished off the regular season with a three-game week. Kalamazoo started the week on Wednesday (4/6), as they hosted the Danbury Trashers on AAA of Michigan NASCAR Night. The K-Wings came out blazing scoring four first period goals, including three goals in a span of two minutes and 49 seconds. Kalamazoo skated away with a 7-2 victory over Danbury. Seven different K-Wings players scored for the K-Wings, who reached the 50-win plateau for the first time in their UHL franchise history.

On Friday (4/8) Kalamazoo concluded the road portion of their schedule with a trip to Rockford, Illinois to battle the IceHogs. In the opening period, Rockford jumped out to an early 2-0 lead; however, Kalamazoo answered backed with a goal from Sean Starke (19) to cut the Rockford lead in half. Unfortunately, it would be as close as the K-Wings would get, as the IceHogs added a goal in both the second and the third period to defeat the K-Wings 4-1.

Kalamazoo concluded the regular season on Saturday (4/9) with a home game against the Missouri River Otters. The K-Wings struck first early in the opening period with a goal from Tyler Willis (15). Missouri came back with two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 lead. The K-Wings would not be outdone, as Tim Krueckl scored the game-tying goal early in the third period to bring the game even at 2-2. Missouri's Ryan Johnson (10) scored the eventual game-winning goal with just over four seconds to play in the regulation, as the Otters defeated the K-Wings 3-2.
