Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo began their two game week on Friday (2/4) at Wings Stadium against the Missouri River Otters. The K-Wings power-play, who went 2 for 2 for the game, proved to be the difference as the K-Wings defeated the River Otters 3-1. Kalamazoo started the game's scoring in the opening period, when Mike Manley (3) was "Johnny on the Spot", finding a deflected shot by Mark Vilneff and sending it past Kevin Reiter for the goal. In the second period, while on a power-play, Shaun Fisher (7) sniped a rebound from the left circle to give the K-Wings a 2-0 lead. After Missouri's Lars Petterson (13) cut the K-Wings lead to 2-1; the K-Wings would find some insurance in the form of a power-play goal from Kevin Kotyluk (14). Chad Alban would shut the door on the Otters stopping 25 of 26 shots to earn the victory.

The K-Wings concluded the week on Saturday (2/5) with a trip to Fraser, Michigan to battle the Motor City Mechanics. Motor City jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a breakaway shorthanded goal from Joe Burton (20); however, the rest of the night belonged to the K-Wings. Kalamazoo rattled off four answered goals en route to a 4-1 victory over Motor City. Kevin Kotyluk, Mike Manley, and Kevin Holdridge lead the K-Wings in scoring by recording a goal and assist each. The K-Wings became the first team in the UHL to hold Motor City's Chris Chelios and Darren Hatcher point less. Both Chelios and Hatcher finished the game -1.
