TRASHERS WEEK IN REVIEW

TRASHERS DUMP PORT HURON 5-3 ON SUPER SUNDAY

February 6th, 2005

The Trashers won a wild one at the Danbury Ice Arena, 5-3 over the Port Huron Beacons, in front of a crowd of 2,262.

Dave MacIsaac opened the scoring with his first of the season, on the power play at 5:18, with Malcolm MacMillian in the box for interference. Rumun Ndur followed his teammate's lead, and notched his first five and a half minutes later, on a pass from Bruce Richardson, at 10:38. John Mirasty continued to show Trasher fans how he got the nickname "Nasty" when he fought the Beacons' Mat Goody shortly after the goal. To put the Trashers up by three, Greg Goodnough scored the first goal of his professional career, from Ndur and Gerry Hickey at 14:09 of the first.

Jeff Daw tacked on his 17th of the season from Mike Bayrack, to put anbury up 4-0 two minutes into the second frame. Port Huron's Mark Lindsay managed a puck past Scott Stirling to put the Beacons on the board just 19 seconds after the Daw tally. At 6:01, the Trashers had the opportunity to widen the lead as Doug Christiansen was awarded a penalty shot. Port Huron netminder Stu Dunn turned the shot aside, to keep the lead to three goals. Mat Goody was involved in his second fight of the game, this time with Rumun Ndur, at 17:52.

The Beacons scored twice early in the final period, as Josh Tataryn, and Goody, to make the it a one-goal game. Mirasty had his second bout of the afternoon, as he locked up with Gabriel Proux at 9:49. The game continued to be a physical one, Hickey and MacMillian both recieving misconducts at the 18:11 mark. With Dunn pulled from the Beacons net, Goodnough scored his second of the game on the empty net, assisted by Daw and Mario Larocque at 19:32. Before the game was in the books, the two teams collided for one more scrap, as the Trashers' Richardson fought Proulx.

Six different Trashers recorded a point in the match, and three notched their first goals of the season. Scott Stirling stopped 31 of the 34 shots he faced in net for Danbury, Dunn turned aside 16-of-21.

BAYRACK, RICHARDSON EACH SCORE FOUR AS TRASHERS WHIP ELMIRA 6-2

February 5th, 2005

Four Trashers recorded multi-point nights in Danbury's 6-2 with over the Elmira Jackals at the Danbury Ice Arena. A crowd of 2,686 was on hand as Mike Bayrack and Bruce Richardson put up four points each.

Bruce Richardson scored the first of two short-handed goals in the first period, to give the Trashers the early lead. The assist on the goal went to Bayrack at 3:19. The Jackals came back to tie things up with Danbury's Jeff State still in the box with a boarding minor. Nathan Gillies tied the game at one, from Kevin Thompson, just over a minute after Richardson's goal. Sixteen seconds later, Dean Jackson pushed a puck past Ryan MacIntosh, in net for the Trashers for the first time this season since his acquisition earlier this season. Derek Campbell had the only assist on Jackson's goal, at 4:47.

The Jackals held a 2-1 lead until J.F. David tied things up with his sixth of the year, short-handed, from Mike Bayrack and Richardson, at 16:17. John Mirasty was in the box serving for Goaltender Interference. Mirasty had one of two scraps in the first period, as he fought Elmira's Derek Campbell at 15:38, as a result of the bump with Greg Hewitt, the Jackals netminder. The other match of the period was Gerry Hickey squaring off with Chris Shaw, at 14:32. Heading into the second period, Danbury had evened the score at two-all. As for most of the game, the Trashers ended the first frame leading in shots, 18-10.

Danbury pushed the total to three unanswered goals in the second period of play. Richardson put the Trashers up 3-2 with his second of the game, seventeenth of the season, on the power play with Carl Drakensjo in the box for the Jackals. J.F. TRASHERS EARN POINT IN 5-4 SHOOTOUT LOSS TO ADIRONDACK

February 4th 2005

Despite trailing twice by two goals on Friday night, the Danbury Trashers were able to fight their way back to force a shootout at the Glens Falls Civic Center, but shootout tallies by Sylvain Cloutier and Hugo Belanger led the Frostbite to a 5-4 shootout win.

The Trashers took a 1-0 lead at 3:42 of the first on Bruce Richardson's 15th goal of the season from Jeff Daw and JF Favid, but Adirondack tied it at the 9:01 mark on Cloutier's 15th of the season from Scott Drevitch and Belanger.

Adirondack then scored two goals 39 seconds apart in the 2nd by Drevitch and David Burgess before Danbury's Mario Larocque's power play goal pulled Danbury to 3-2 by the end of the period.

The Trashers allowed Adirondack to extend their lead a 2nd time as Frank Bakrlik scored on a pass from Corey Lucas at 3:27, but Doug Christensen's 15th of the year from Richardson came just 28 seconds later. The Trashers then tied the game at the eight minute mark on Mike Bayrack's 29th of the season.
