Ka'Aihue Homers Twice in Aces Loss

RENO, Nev.-Kila Ka'aihue hit two home runs for the Aces on Saturday night, but Reno fell 9-5 to the Tacoma Rainiers at Aces Ballpark.

The loss marked Reno's first to Tacoma at home since April 30, 2011.

Ka'aihue's homered to lead off the fourth, bringing the Aces within three, down 6-3. His second long ball of the game came in his next at bat in the sixth, a two-run shot that brought Reno within one, down 6-5.

Franklin Gutierrez, on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment with Tacoma, hit a two-run home run off Reno reliever Bo Schultz in the top of the eighth to give the Rainiers a couple of insurance runs.

At the dish for Reno, Ka'aihue went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Chris Owings extended his Aces-best hitting streak to 12 games, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored.

RHP Chase Anderson was charged with his sixth loss of the season for Reno. He gave up six runs-three earned-on seven hits through 3.0 innings, while striking out four. Reliever Bryan Henry gave up just one hit, while striking out four, in 3.0 innings following Anderson's exit.

RHP Blake Beavan earned his third win of the season for Tacoma. Beavan gave up five runs-all earned-on eight hits through 6.2 innings.

The series continues on Sunday afternoon at Aces Ballpark. RHP Charles Brewer (2-4, 4.85 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Rainiers will counter with RHP Hector Noesi (0-0, 10.80 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, for another Renown Children's Hospital Family Funday featuring Baseball Bingo.
