Rainiers Fall To Reno, 8-4

TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers let an early lead fall by the wayside in an 8-4 loss to the Reno Aces at Aces Ballpark on Sunday.

Tacoma went up by as much as 4-0 after posting a four-run frame in the third inning. Franklin Gutierrez, Carlos Peguero and Stefen Romero each turned in RBI singles, and Alex Liddi added another run with his second triple of the season.

Reno's Juan Rivera helped cut the Rainiers advantage to 4-3 with a two-run home run the bottom of the fourth inning. The first baseman later put the Aces on top for good with another two-run blast that had Tacoma trailing 5-4 in the fifth.

The Rainiers collected a combined eight hits in the contest. The outfielder Gutierrez recorded the first multi-hit game of his MLB rehab stint with Tacoma after going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Infielder Brad Miller collected his first Triple-A hit after lining a single in the seventh inning.

Starter Jimmy Gillheeney (2-2) surrendered five runs to the Aces on seven hits over 4.2 innings was dealt the loss. The left-hander struck out four and issued three walks in his fifth start with Tacoma this season.

Relievers Brian Sweeney (2.0) and Jhonny Nunez (1.1) combined to allow three runs on four hits over 3.1 innings of work out of the bullpen.
