Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-Reno Aces batters combined for four home runs on Sunday afternoon, including Juan Rivera's first two long balls of the season, en route to an 8-4 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers at Aces Ballpark.
Kila Ka'aihue, who had two home runs in Saturday night's game, hit his league-leading 14th ball out of the park to lead off the fourth inning. Matt Davidson reached on a walk, before Rivera hit his first home run of the afternoon to left field.
Rivera followed up with another two-run shot in his next at bat, with two outs in the fifth. Davidson recorded a solo homer in the seventh, as part of a two-run inning for Reno.
The Rainiers scored four runs on the afternoon, all off Reno starter Charles Brewer in the third inning. The first six Tacoma batters at the plate reached base, including a double to lead off the inning, and an RBI triple by Alex Liddi.
At the dish for Reno, Rivera went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. Davidson and Ka'aihue also recorded a multi-hit game for the Aces.
Aside from the rough fourth inning, Brewer had a solid outing for Reno to earn his third win of the season. Brewer gave up four runs-all earned-on seven hits, while striking out six through 6.0 innings pitched. The Aces bullpen combined to shutout the Rainiers over the final 3.0 innings of the game, allowing just one hit and striking out five.
LHP Jimmy Gillheeney was charged with the loss for Tacoma, giving up five runs-all earned-on seven hits through 4.2 innings. He struck out four, and allowed three home runs.
The series wraps up Monday afternoon at Aces Ballpark, as the Aces look to earn their second series win of the season. LHP Tyler Skaggs was scheduled to start the game for Reno, but he has been tapped by the Diamondbacks to begin Game One of Arizona's Memorial Day doubleheader. The Rainiers will send RHP Hector Noesi (0-0, 10.80 ERA) to the mound. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, and fans can enjoy Margarita Monday presented by Alice @96.5.
Tickets are on sale for Monday's game, and all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
