Kalamazoo, MI- The Wings Stadium Complex, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", announces that later tonight that the Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, will present the YWCA with a check for $6,500 during tonight's K-Wings 7:30 p.m. contest against the Roanoke Valley Vipers.

The donation of $6,500 comes from the proceeds of the K-Wings Halloween Jersey Auction.

"We selected the YWCA because of all the great work they do in the community," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "Owning real estate locally for 30 plus years made being involved with this game a lot of sense."

Earlier today at a press conference at Wings Stadium, the YWCA unveiled Kalamazoo's own real estate trading game-Kalamazoo On Board. While the official on sale date for the game won't be until tomorrow, fans coming to the game tonight can be the first in the area to purchase the game that features both Wings Stadium and the K-Wings on the game board.

Kalamazoo On Board is an exciting, one-of-a-kind celebration of community based on the famous "opoly" style real estate trading game. Proceeds from the game board benefit the YWCA of Kalamazoo, a leading service provider and advocate for eliminating racism and empowering women, which impacts close to 20,000 lives each year. The game, which will feature 40 regional properties, icons, attractions and festivals will be on sale Saturday, November 19th.

The games, which include coupons worth more than $800, will be available at all Harding's Friendly Market, D&W Food Centers and Felpausch stores throughout Kalamazoo County, beginning Saturday, November 19, 2005 and retail for $39.99 plus tax. Games are expected to sell fast, and quantities are limited.

"It's a game that celebrates the Kalamazoo community-our history and traditions. It provides some fun and education for families who reside in the area", said YWCA CEO Jennifer Shoub. "We look at this project as a great way to relive memories you have about the Kalamazoo community with your family".

The YWCA of the USA, of which the YWCA of Kalamazoo is a member Association, is the oldest, largest autonomous women's membership organization in the world. Its mission is eliminating racism and empowering women. The YWCA of Kalamazoo, the oldest Association in Michigan, was founded in 1885 and began as a residence service provider to young women who gravitated to the city to work in its factories. Today, the YWCA of Kalamazoo provides services to survivors of domestic assault, including shelter (the first such shelter in the state of Michigan and one of the first in the United States); a program for survivors of sexual assault, a licensed child care center, a mentoring program for women and teens seeking self-sufficiency through employment and educational goals, and services to YWCA members and the community-at-large.
