Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Steve Martinson announced Friday that Hogs goalie Michel Robinson has been loaned to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Robinson will not be in the lineup tonight for Rockford when the club takes on the Motor City Mechanics at 7:05 p.m. at the Rockford MetroCentre.
The call-up is the third of the season for Robinson, but first to Chicago. The reigning UHL Goalie of the Year was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals twice earlier in the season. Robinson is expected to remain with the Wolves through tomorrow night's contest against Milwaukee in Chicago. IceHogs center Preston Mizzi is currently on loan to the Admirals.
Robinson attended Wolves training camp prior to coming to Rockford this fall. The Montreal, Quebec native appeared in one preseason game for Chicago, picking up a win. Robinson earned a win last season while blocking pucks for the Admirals in his only AHL regular season appearance in his career.
The Hogs goalie is one of five Hogs skaters to receive a call-up to the AHL. Of the five, Rockford has had 12 call-ups already this season. Other skaters loaned to the AHL include defenseman Nathan Lutz, Evgueni Nourislamov and rookie forward Chaz Johnson. Robinson will suit up for the Wolves tonight when they travel to Peoria to take on the Rivermen.
To fill Robinson's void, the Hogs have re-signed goaltender Andrew Joy as the club's emergency backup for tonight's contest against the Mechanics and Saturday's game against the Fort Wayne Komets. Ronnie Vogel will get the nod between the pipes.
Next Home Games: Friday, November 18 vs. Motor City Mechanics. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive IceHogs Poster #2 in the seven poster series courtesy of Medicine Man, Johnson Press, Pepsi and Rockford Register Star.
Saturday, November 19 vs. Fort Wayne Komets. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 kids 14-and under will receive a full-size youth hockey stick from MT and Sons, WXRX-FM 104.9 and FOX39. Call (815) 968-5222 for tickets.
