K-Wings steamroll Road Warriors

Greenville, SC- Starting their four-game road swing on a high-note, the Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Greenville Road Warriors 5-1 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Greenville came into Thursday surrendering 2.37 goals-per-game, which was the seventh best goals allowed average in the league, but that didn't stop Kalamazoo from coming out the gates strong.

On their very first power-play of the contest, Yanni Gourde gave the K-Wings the lead 7:59 into the first period notching his team-best eighth goal of the season.

Kalamazoo extended its lead five minutes later with a rebound marker from David Pacan (2nd). In a mad scramble in front of the Road Warriors net, Pacan was able to rack in a the puck and fling a third chance opportunity past goaltender Conner Knapp.

Gourde earned his second point of the game on an assist midway in the second period by laying a centering pass to the tape of Ludwig Blomstrand, who scored his sixth goal of the season. Also assisting on the goal was Eric Kattelus, who extended his assist and point streaks to four games.

Beginning the third period killing a penalty, Justin Taylor earned his first goal of the season scoring shorthanded 1:46 into the stanza. The goal was the K-Wings fifth shorthanded goal of the season.

It didn't take Taylor long to recorded his second goal of the season. Later in the period, Taylor jammed in his own rebound to push the K-Wings ahead 5-0.

Breaking up the shutout bid of Jordan Binnington, Brandon Hynes scored with 46 seconds remaining to close out the scoring. Binnington (5-4-0-0) finished the game with a career-best and K-Wings season-high 43 saves.

The two teams finished the game with a combined 88 minutes in penalties with 54 of the minutes occurring in the final 36 seconds.

Kalamazoo will continue their four-game road swing with the second-leg of the trip tomorrow, Friday, December 6th with a 7:05 p.m. encounter against the Gwinnet Gladiators.

The K-Wings will return home on Friday, December 13th versus the Cincinnati Cyclones on Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest and Teddy Bear Toss Night. The fan that wears the ugliest Holiday sweater will receive $200. The game will also feature $2 beers, $2 hot dogs and $1 Pepsi products.

December 13th will also be the annual Teddy Bear Toss night, when the K-Wings score their first goal; fans will throw stuffed animals onto the ice. The stuffed animals collected will go to the Salvation Army and to the K-Wings annual visit to the Children's Hospital at Bronson.

Tickets for all 36 K-Wings home games are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, including www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000. Ticket office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Regular season ticket prices for home games are $13 and $17.50 for adults and only $7 for kids ages 12 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and the New Year's Eve game) are just $1 more. Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single-game tickets in advance. Tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $2 (adults only).

Fans that plan on attending multiple games can avoid service fees plus enjoy a discount from the single-game price by purchasing a 12, 24 or 36-game flexi-plan.
