DULUTH, Ga. - The Gwinnett Gladiators announced Thursday the signing of former NHL forward David Laliberté.

Laliberté (pronounced, LAL-ee-bur-tay), 27, is entering his seventh season as a professional after being drafted 124th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round of the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Laliberté played in 11 regular season games and one playoff game with the Flyers, scoring two goals and an assist during his time there.

The St-Jean-Sur-Richelie, Quebec native also played in 250 American Hockey League regular season games between the Philadelphia and Adirondack Phantoms, the Syracuse Crunch, and the Providence Bruins. Laliberté has 61 goals, 77 assists, and 174 penalty minutes in his AHL career.

Laliberté played in 21 games last season for Adirondack, along with five for the now-defunct Trenton Titans of the ECHL. In total, he's played in 32 career ECHL games with the Wheeling Nailers and the Titans. In 2011-12, Laliberté appeared in 50 games with the Wolfsburg Grizzly Adams in Germany, helping the team to a quarterfinal appearance in the Spengler Cup.

Prior to his professional career, the 6'1", 203-pound forward played in 279 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games with the Montreal and Prince Edward Island Rocket, racking up 121 goals, 108 assists, and 224 penalty minutes.

The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation's premier "AA" hockey league and are affiliated with the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
